The Equine Experience: What to Expect

The Arrival & Settle-In

I always arrive early to meet you and your horse without the camera out. This gives them a chance to sniff the gear, get used to a new face, and realise that nothing scary is happening. If they need twenty minutes to graze or look around while we chat about the shots you want, that’s exactly what I'll do. I do one shoot a day, so we have plenty of time.

Choosing Your Safe Space

I typically work at your yard or a local spot where your horse feels most at home. When a horse is in their own environment, their true personality comes out. Whether that’s a quiet corner of a stable with beautiful light or an open field where they can feel the wind, I follow their lead.

Gentle Direction (Not Posing)

I don’t believe in stiff, awkward poses. Instead, I give "gentle direction. I might ask you to lead them toward a certain patch of light or simply spend a moment grooming them. By focusing on your interaction, I capture those authentic expressions, the tilt of an ear or a soft muzzle, that you recognise as "your" horse.

Safety and Calm

Safety is my absolute priority. I work unobtrusively and quietly. If something startles your horse or they get bored, we take a break. The best photos happen in the "in-between" moments when everyone is relaxed and breathing easy.
