If you’re thinking about booking a dog photography session, it’s completely normal to wonder how it all works, especially if your dog, isn’t the type to sit still on command.
As a specialist dog photographer, working in Wirral and Cheshire, my portrait sessions are designed to be entirely stress-free for both you and your canine companion.
Before Your Dog Photography Shoot
Before we meet, we’ll have a chat about your dog photography shoot:
I want to know about their personality, how they are with strangers
Do they have a favourite toy or high-value treat, (Bring Plenty)
What characteristic is that makes your dog special
This helps me plan the photography session around them, not the other way round.
There’s no need for special training, perfect behaviour, or “posing practice”. Your dog doesn't need to do anything other than be themselves.

A Dog-First Approach: Why I Only Book One Session Per Day
Unlike high-volume studios that work to a strict clock, I believe that great dog photography cannot be rushed.
There’s no fixed time limit on your session. If it takes time, it takes time. That's why I book just one session per day, so I can give you and your dog the time you both deserve. If your dog has had enough, we stop. Their welfare always comes first.
The aim is always the same: a relaxed dog and honest photographs that reflect who they really are.
On the Day: A Relaxed Approach to Your Dog Photography Shoot
When I arrive, the first thing I do is put the camera aside. Your dog needs time to get used to me. I’m happy to sit back and let them approach in their own time. Whether they settle quickly or take a bit longer, we move at their pace.

During The Shoot
I’m not looking for tricks or perfect poses. I’m watching for expressions, small details, and moments that feel true to you and your animal.
Some of the best images happen in between, when your dog forgets
about the camera, or when things are simply calm and unforced.
I have a high-street studio in Wirral, so if you prefer in indoor shoot we can accommodate that without hesitation, useful on rainy days too.
When I have all the images I need, or your dog has had enough, we call it a day and go home for a nice cup of tea, or in my case a glass of red.
The Cinematic Reveal at My Prenton Studio
About a week later you’ll be invited to my studio for a viewing where you’ll see a carefully selected gallery of images. I’ll guide you through choosing your favourites and talk you through the different ways you can enjoy them, whether that’s wall art or something more personal.
There’s no hard sell and no pressure. My role as your pet photographer is to create the images, your role is simply to choose the ones you love.

A Final Thought
Our dogs are with us for only part of our lives, but to them, we are their whole world.
That’s what I keep in mind during every Wirral dog photography session. My goal is to give you a permanent way to hold onto that bond.
